A spokesperson for Samsung has told Reuters that the successor to the Galaxy Note will make its debut on August 29th, two days before IFA.
From the rumors we’ve heard so far, the next Galaxy Note will have a 5.5-inch display and quad-core processor.
A few weeks ago Germany got an update for the Galaxy Note that updated the mammoth phone to Android 4.0.4 and now that same update has filtered across Europe and has hit the UK.
There isn’t much to boast about in this update, but you do get a new method to unlock your phone which is called Signature unlock and as you’ve probably guessed you write you signature on the lock screen to unlock your device.
This update is available through Samsung’s kies software.
Last week Samsung sent out emails to the press telling them to get ready for an announcement on a new Galaxy but no further information was given. BGR has been told by a source close to Samsung that the event is for next Samsung Galaxy Note that will supposedly come with a 5.5-inch display and a quad-core processor.
If want a Samsung Galaxy Note but don’t like the thought of joining AT&T, a second carrier option will be arriving shortly.
The press image above all but confirms that the Galaxy Note is heading to T-Mobile. We’ve already seen the Galaxy Note with T-Mobile branding running Ice Cream Sandwich and we expect the retail units to be running ICS out of the box. T-Mobile will be receiving the HSPA+ version of the Note and will be available from July 11th.

For a niche product the Galaxy Note has racked up pretty impressive sales, selling over 7 million units since launch. MK Business News is reporting that Samsung is in the development stages for a successor to the original Galaxy Note.
Anticipating an October release, Samsung will be directly competing with Apple when they release the next generation iPhone.
The Galaxy Note ll will use an unbreakable plane display that will enable Samsung to design a thinner phone without sacrificing internal hardware. Battery life and screen size will be increased compared to the current Galaxy Note and the Galaxy Note ll will feature a quad-core CPU.

The image above is said to be a press image for the Nexus tablet from ASUS. The source that sent in the images (another picture at the source link) claims that the 7-incher will come with the quad-core Tegra 3 processor and 1GB of RAM.
The tablet, that looks suspiciously looks like an even bigger Galaxy Note, features a earpiece grill which is usually omitted from tablets because usually they can’t make calls so the fact that this has one may point to phone functionality.
Early reports suggested that the Nexus tablet would be running Android 5.0 JellyBean but the tipster says that its is more likely to be running Android 4.1 instead.
If this is the Nexus tablet and it comes in at the $200-$250 price point we’ve been hearing Google could have a big seller on their hands.
If your rocking Samsung’s 5.3-inch monster phone and your in the U.K you’ll be pleased to hear that Ice Cream Sandwich is now rolling out. As you’d expect it brings all the goodies of Android 4.0, including the Premium Suite which are apps specifically designed for the Note and the included S-Pen. If the Android 4.0 update hasn’t been pushed to your phone then you can manually update through the settings menu and if that doesn’t work, connect your phone to your PC or Mac via USB and launch Kies to download the software directly.
Olympic fever is starting to grip the host nation, as well as the whole World. Samsung are the official sponsors of the 2012 games and what better way to start the games then releasing an Olympic Edition phone. The phone that’s getting the Olympic treatment is the Galaxy Note which will feature an Union Jack back cover and Team GB packaging. This edition of the Note will be sold exclusively on O2 in the U.K and will likely launch close to the start of the Olympic Games.
Update: Now on sale from the O2 online store

The popular news reader app ‘Flipboard’ has leaked out for Android. When the Samsung Galaxy S lll launched last week, the demo units had the Flipboard app installed on them but there was no further word on when we would see a public release for other devices. Now the apk for Flipboard has been released into the wild by a member of the xda-developers forum, so far it looks to be working on most devices, even older models like the Samsung Galaxy S and I’ve installed it on my Samsung Galaxy Note without a problem.

If you live in the US and want a Samsung Galaxy Note your only option is AT&T, well for the time being. TmoNews has images of Samsung’s monster of a phone wearing T-Mobile branding, all but confirming we’ll see the Galaxy Note coming to T-Mobile sooner rather than later. Interestingly, this Galaxy Note is running Ice Cream Sandwich which is a good sign that the handset will actually ship with ICS.
