Though we’d rather hear it from the horse’s mouth aka Samsung, an insider for the company has told Sam Mobile that the Galaxy S ll will get Jelly Bean. Planned to be released during September – October, Galaxy S ll owners should expected their phones to be updated to Android 4.1.1.
This piece of news isn’t that much of a revelation since we knew Samsung were testing Jelly Bean and a lot of people would expect the Galaxy S ll, Galaxy S lll and the Galaxy Note to get Jelly Bean but never the less its nice to hear it from someone within the company.
So far HTC are the only big company to reveal their current plans for an upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. By now you would of thought that Samsung would have showed their hand and announced what phones would be getting Jelly Bean, but so far they have stayed tight lipped, but word has it that they are in the process of testing JB for the Galaxy S lll and Galaxy S ll.
Although no official dates for the update have been mentioned sources say that Android 4.1 for the S lll is almost ready and could be with us in August or September and as for the Galaxy S ll the first test running JB on it has been a success and if the successful testing continues the S ll will get Jelly Bean despite being a slightly older device.
Here comes the pricing for the Galaxy S lll. If your a Sprint customer, pre-orders will start from June 5th online and putting down $199 will get you a 16GB S lll or parting with $249 will get you a 32GB. Sprint will be getting the 4G LTE Galaxy but you won’t be able to achieve 4G speeds until the network is turned on later this year. Both the Marble white and Pebble blue versions will be available and Sprint are the only network offering an unlimited data plan which should come in super handy. One last tidbit that might turn you in Sprint’s direction is that their Galaxy S lll will come preloaded with Google Wallet so you can get your NFC payments on when the phone goes on sale on June 21st.
