BlackBerry 10 launch event set for January 30th
BlackBerry 10 has been taking its sweet time to make an appearance and some thought that it may never see the light of day, but today RIM have released details of BlackBerry 10 launch event.
Scheduled for January 30th, RIM plan to have simultaneous events in multiple countries around the world. As well as detailing BB 10, RIM will unveil the first two BlackBerry 10 smartphones and give information about their pricing and availability.

Here’s what a 10-inch BlackBerry PlayBook looks like
For over a year now RIM has been selling their 7-inch BlackBerry PlayBook and although it hasn’t been a big seller, RIM plan to stick with it and release a 4G version in the near future.
Research In Motion did have plans to release a 10-inch version but it has never be released to market. Some images of this 10-inch PlayBook have surfaced, showing an identical design to its younger sibling, there is a sim card slot and 4G logo so it is safe to say that the option of using a mobile network would of been embedded.
Even with these newly emerged photos of this 10-inch tablet we still don’t know if it will ever see the light of day.

BlackBerry 10 roadmap leaks out
By now we’ve all heard the news that RIM’s new hardware and software won’t be hitting the market until Q1 of 2013 at the earliest. A leaked roadmap obtained by BlackBerryOS shows that RIM are looking to launch their full touch screen device codenamed ‘London’ in Q1 of next year along with another touch screen with a physical QWERTY called ‘Nevada’.
Also mentioned in the roadmap is a new tablet going by the codename of Blackforest, which may be RIM’s 10-inch tablet. The current BlackBerry PlayBook is scheduled to get its BlackBerry 10 update sometime in the first half of 2013.
Research In Motion are also looking to release another two handsets in the second half of next year called Nashville and Naples but apart from that we have no other information to go on.

My BlackBerry story
Since 2009 I’ve been a BlackBerry user. I’ve owned other phones while using a BlackBerry but for some reason I’ve always stuck with RIM’s phones.
A lot of current iPhone users lost their patients with owning a BlackBerry and migrated, but I did it the other way round. I had an iPhone before I had a bb and decided to make the move for one reason and one reason only…….. The KEYBOARD!

PlayBook OS 2.1 beta coming real soon
Before RIM released PlayBook OS 2.0 to the general public, it was available in beta form for anyone to load on to their PlayBook to use and test before its official release. It looks like Research In Motion are going down the same path with the release of PlayBook OS 2.1, as PlayBook project manager Michael Clewley tweeted that an OS 2.1 beta will be available by the end of May. Since there are only two days of May left we should see the beta roll out today or tomorrow.

New BlackBerry adverts for the U.K market
Research In Motion continue to push the BlackBerry brand in the U.K, which is one of the markets that BlackBerry is actually doing well in. The new adverts focus on BBM music on the BlackBerry Curve 9320, web browsing on a BlackBerry Bold 9900 and NFC payments on a BlackBerry Bold 9790.
Will these features stop you jumping ship or will they convince you to go BlackBerry?
A decent sat nav app comes to BlackBerry
There’s a multitude of sat nav apps for iOS and Android but as usual Blackberry handsets get left out. Now anyone wanting turn-by-turn navigation on their Blackberry have got an app from one of the big names in navigation at it comes from Telmap. Telmap Navigator has all the options you’d come to expect from a fully featured sat nav application, Points of Interest, nearest restaurants and local hospitals. It also has Facebook and Twitter integration so you can let all your friends and sometimes complete strangers know where you are. Best of all the app is free but sadly its only for the UK.

BlackBerry Curve 9320 now official, ships with BB OS 7.1 (updated)
Another Curve has been announced by RIM, so if your a budget minded buyer you may want to take a look. As with most BlackBerry devices the 9320 comes with a full QWERTY keyboard, 2.44-inch 320×240 display, 3.2-megapixel camera with flash, 512 RAM and a reasonable 1450mAh battery. Since the 9320 is running BlackBerry OS 7.1, owners will be able to join iPhone and Android owners and be able you use their phone as a mobile hotspot.
Update: Three and T-Mobile UK are already selling the 9320.
RIM hand out BlackBerry 10 alpha devices
RIM have a lot riding on the success of their BlackBerry 10 platform and as part of that success they will need to get developers on board, creating apps for the OS. Today RIM handed out BlackBerry 10 alpha devices to everyone attending BlackBerry 10 Jam. The phone looks to be based on a BlackBerry PlayBook and the software it runs is a modified version of the PlayBook OS. The screen on this alpha device measures in at 4.2-inches with a resolution of 1280×768. Storage for this device is 16GB which is quite high for a BlackBerry Phone and it comes with 1GB of RAM. The phone has been stripped of all apps apart from the camera and web browser, but developers will receive OTA updates for added functionality closer to the launch of BlackBerry 10.
